Horse Show Fun

Today was a ton of fun. A friend and I have been organizing small local horse shows, and today was our third show! It’s a little English horse show, with mostly flat classes, but we’re finally figuring some things out. Despite having participated in numerous shows, my friend and I had no idea how to run one. Registration was a mess at the first show, but today it went so much smoother.

Amazingly, even though I was running the show, I didn’t have to get up as early as if I was riding. Which was a nice change. I picked up one of our volunteers and headed out to our venue. We only had about seventeen riders and forty classes, but we had so much fun! I even got to try my hand at announcing, which was actually super fun.

Another thing that made today fun is that it was not only another friend’s first horse show ever, it was her first show with her new OTTB. They both did so well. She was super anxious about being at the show. While she didn’t do well in the flat, she won both of the jump classes we offered! And even better, the judge loved her horse, which really boosted her confidence.

Hopefully my health will improve soon, and I can convince my horse to get in a straight-load trailer, so we can have a little horse fun show. Either way I had a ton of fun organizing and running our little schooling show, and I’m even looking forward to organizing all the paperwork!
